Less shouting. More knowing.

What this is

The Context Check is an independent educational quiz. It takes slogans and claims that come up around Israel, Palestine, October 7, antisemitism, land, proportionality and genocide — and asks what you actually know.

The name poses a popular slogan as a question. The site is not run by, affiliated with or sponsored by any Palestinian or Israeli advocacy organisation, government or political party.

Your results never label you. Getting a question wrong says nothing about your politics.

Methodology

Each question is built around one verifiable fact or legal definition, written so the honest answer is the interesting one.

Reveals separate verified facts from context and interpretation, which is labelled as such.

Population and casualty figures always carry a date and a definition. Charts use the same scale for anything being compared.

Where questions are legally or historically contested, we say so and describe the main positions rather than settling them.

Criticism of Israel is treated as distinct from antisemitism. Jewish people, Israelis, Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims are not treated as interchangeable groups.

Source policy

Every factual claim links to a source. We prefer, in order: primary documents (treaties, court records, official statistics), established research institutions, and major news organisations with corrections policies.

Each question shows the date it was last verified. Quotes, polls and statistics are never invented.

Corrections

Spotted an error or a better source? Email corrections@example.com with the question and the source. Corrections are reviewed and the "last verified" date is updated.
